I've been working on websites since 1998,
when I was asked to upgrade a first generation web site
belonging to my employer. I quickly
realized this was something I really enjoyed, and eventually
began creating sites
on
my own.
When it comes to designing a site, I prefer a simple, clean look with
an emphasis on clear organization and attention to detail. If a visitor
to
your site can't
find what
they want, and find it fast, it doesn't
matter how dazzling the graphics may be. I also pay a great
deal of attention to the boring technical stuff that allows
a site to load quickly, work with different browsers and show up
in search engine results. The bottom line is a site that
works.
When it comes to graphics,
I think of myself as more of a production artist instead of
a graphic designer. I know how to use the major graphics programs,
such as Adobe Photoshop or Flash, and
if you have a clear idea of what you want, I can usually come
up with a clean, professional look.
But if you're looking for an original logo
or lots of stunning custom graphics, I'm probably not your
guy. Example of sites I have personally designed can be found
on my portfolio
page.
I also have over twenty year of experience as a computer system
analyst and programmer in C and Visual Basic, and
database design and programming in MS Access and MS SQL.
